Kings hire Rockets analytics expert Monte McNair

The Sacramento Kings are hiring Houston Rockets assistant general manager Monte McNair as their head of basketball operations, The Athletic reports.

Minnesota Timberwolves executive vice president of basketball operations Sachin Gupta and former Atlanta Hawks general manager Wes Wilco were reportedly among the finalists for the job alongside McNair.

New era in Sacramento

The Kings initiated a front-office shakeup in August when they fired longtime general manager Vlade Divac. Assistant general manger Peja Stojakovic left the team shortly after Divac’s exit. Head coach Luke Walton remains in place after one year on the job.

President Donald Trump asserted in a tweet on Monday afternoon that being stricken with the coronavirus has made him feel 20 years younger.

The president, who was hospitalized on Friday after experiencing numerous complications related to the disease, is reassuring his followers that he is now stronger than ever.

Florida officials extend voter registration deadline after website glitches

Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and Secretary of State Laurel Lee announced on Tuesday that the voter registration deadline for the November election will be extended after the state’s registration website experienced some technical issues.

The voter registration window was supposed to close on Monday, but Florida officials agreed to allow registrations to continue until Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. EDT.

“This morning I met with Governor DeSantis to brief him on the status of the online voter registration system and the difficulties we encountered last night due to unprecedented volume and traffic to our website,” Lee said in a statement.

“We are working with local Supervisors of Elections and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to ensure that all eligible registrants have the ability to submit a voter registration application by 7:00 p.m. this evening,” she added.
