Assange ‘Binge-Watched’ Suicide of Ex-Bosnian Croat General | World News

By PAN PYLAS, Associated Press

LONDON (AP) — Julian Assange relayed how he “binge-watched” the suicide of the former Bosnian Croat general in a U.N. courtroom three years ago, a doctor who visited the WikiLeaks founder on several occasions while he was in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London told an extradition hearing Thursday.

Dr. Sondra Crosby, associate professor of medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine, said she noted a visible deterioration in both his mental and physical state over her four visits from Oct. 2017 to the embassy where Assange was living. He had been granted asylum by Ecuador five years earlier over fears of extradition to the U.S. related to his WikiLeaks work.

Crosby told London’s Old Bailey criminal court that on a visit in February 2018, Assange had first described thoughts of suicide and how he was thinking about it “very deliberately” and that he had

Kenya: Mombasa Teenage Criminals Adopt New Tactics and Weapons

I stood anxiously at the corner as I pondered what to tell the young man if he asked why I needed the gadget he had gone to bring me.

When he emerged from an alley on Haile Selassie Road in Mombasa, John (not his real name), looked excited. “Do you have the cash?” he asked, as he led me upstairs to a dingy room packed with electronic items.

“This is what I got because you just made the order this morning,” he said as he squeezed himself inside his tiny ‘office’.

In his hands was a UV-5R Baofeng (VHF/UHF) walkie-talkie. He had taken two hours after I had asked him to get me one, through multiple referrals. It would cost me Sh5,000.

“This is so powerful, it can even infiltrate the police signals if you find someone who can help you get their frequency,” he explained as he dodged my

Justice Dept. to announce charges for Chinese government-linked ‘computer intrusion campaign’

The Justice Department plans to announce Wednesday charges involving a “computer intrusion campaign” tied to the Chinese government.

Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen, FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich and other officials will take part in a news conference at 11 a.m. ET to make the announcement, a DOJ statement obtained by Reuters said.

Last month, White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien said that Chinese government-linked hackers have been targeting U.S. election infrastructure before the November election. China has denied claims that it hacked U.S. government agencies.

In July, U.S. security officials tracking Chinese hacking revealed that hackers backed by the Chinese government attempted to steal coronavirus vaccination data from U.S.-based biotech company, Moderna Inc.

China pushed back on this accusation and said, “Such allegations are pure slander.”

The week before, the DOJ indicted two Chinese nationals working for Chinese intelligence agency
