Cops say they find 1,000 files of child porn on 19-year-old’s computer


Pembroke Pines police said they found about 1,000 files of child pornography downloaded by Alexander Moncada, a Broward 19-year-old. Detectives were investigating child porn being downloaded from social media.

An investigation into child porn on social media led police to a Pembroke Pines man with more than 1,000 files of child pornography, police said.

Pembroke Pines police detectives started a child-pornography investigation into an IP address that was using social media as a means to acquire child porn, police said. Files of child porn would be downloaded and stored from social media, detectives said.

The investigation led detectives to 19-year-old Alexander Moncada. After serving a warrant, police said they found about a thousand files of child pornography on Moncada’s computer.

Police said Moncada confessed to having and transmitting the child porn.

LANSING, Mich — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is warning the public about recent Apple iPhone and tech support scams. 

According to the attorney general’s office, there hasn’t been an uptick in complains as of late, but Michiganders should remain cautious. 

Nessel said that scammers may pose as employees offering tech support for major companies like Apple or Microsoft. 

A Michigan woman was reportedly contacted by a scammer who told her that her mobile device required a security update and that he could assist with the process. The woman followed the caller’s instructions and unknowingly gave him remote access to her phone, and he transferred $1,000 from her bank account.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Arnold Spielberg, father of filmmaker Steven Spielberg and an innovating engineer whose work helped make the personal computer possible, has died at 103 years old.

Spielberg died of natural causes while surrounded by his family in Los Angeles on Tuesday, according to a statement from his four children.

Spielberg and Charles Propster designed the GE-225 mainframe computer in the late 1950s while working for General Electric. The machine allowed computer scientists at Dartmouth College to develop the programming language BASIC, which would be essential the rise of personal computers in the 1970s and 80s.

Premiums of Rs 17,011 crore in July have been amassed, witnessing a hike from the collection last year in the same period.

Premiums paid on non-life insurance viz automobile, health and homes hiked in July even as the country continues to see a spike in coronavirus cases. Non-life insurers, which include general insurers, standalone health insurers and specialised PSU insurers, have registered an 18.4 per cent on-year growth in premiums in July, a CARE Ratings report said on Wednesday. Premiums of Rs 17,011 crore in July have been amassed, witnessing a hike from the collection last year in the same period. In July 2019, Rs 14,369 crore worth premiums were collected.

The government of India has launched the “Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge” under the aim of Atmanirbhar Bharat, to promote home-grown microprocessor manufacturing and designing.

The registrations for the challenge started from August 18th on the MyGov website and 100 shortlisted companies will be given a total grant of Rs 1 crore to build a prototype, while 25 finalists will win Rs 1 crore each.
