Florida extends voter registration deadline; state investigates website outages

TALLAHASSEE — Florida officials on Tuesday said they were looking into an “unprecedented” surge in traffic to the state’s voter registration portal that caused site outages and prompted the state to extend the registration deadline by several hours.

The problems with the state’s website on Monday evening sparked a lawsuit among voting rights groups, raised questions about whether the state had adequately prepared to handle a flood of last-minute registrations and left some Floridians concerned about their voting status ahead of the November election. Earlier Tuesday, Florida Secretary of State Laurel Lee raised the specter of whether there had been a “deliberate act” of sabotage against the site but later said no such evidence had been identified.

As a result of the outages, Lee announced midday that Floridians would have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to register to vote, which some groups said wasn’t enough.

“A several hour extension leaves little

Naval Education and Training Command Launches New Website > United States Navy > display-pressreleases

Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) completed a migration and modernization of the command’s public-facing website to the Defense Media Activity’s Department of Defense Public Web (DoDPW) web hosting and content management system, American Forces Public Information Management System (AFPIMS), Oct. 1.

NETC reorganized and updated web content under AFPIMS for 78 commands and training activities, which means that the majority of NETC’s subordinate commands within MyNavy HR Force Development now have a new web address that Sailors, students from other services, and the public must use to visit their specific sub-sites.

AFPIMS is a common platform that streamlines workflow processes and increases efficiencies for the public affairs mission. AFPIMS allows public affairs teams to display news stories, press releases, publications, fact sheets, photo and video galleries, and podcasts. They can also share this content across 800-plus DoD websites, including the Navy’s flagship website, and seamlessly integrate with the Defense

The website, which is called meghanforpresident.com, features photographs of Meghan at several former engagements, including a visit to the Hubb Community Kitchen in West London earlier this year and during her royal tour to South Africa in 2019.

In a blog post published on 29 September, falsely credited to the Duchess of Sussex, it states that “after months of reflection and internal discussions”, she had “heard your calls to become President of the United States of America”.

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few months, that I feel prepared to make this decision,” the post reads.

“With your support I believe we can bring equality,

A new website, Hunt Illinois, pulls together public hunting information in Illinois, but leaves some mistakes in place, such as listing safety classes by 102 counties rather than by date; at least a good usable calendar has permit and season dates in one place.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced today the release of the Hunt Illinois website, which pulls together public hunting information in Illinois.

Good, it’s a shift in the right direction.

The most usable part, by my view, is the calendar with listings of permit and season dates.

But it leaves in place one of the most galling features in my view, both as a dad and an outdoors professional.

The listings for safety classes remain by 102 counties rather than by date. That just blows my mind.

Here’s why it matters. The kids who are hardcore hunters will find a way to squeeze in their hunter safety classes, but the kids who will hunt as a social or family activity need all the help they can get. As an outdoors and hunting community, those tangential kids may be the most important ones to keep in the fold.
